Pop icon Madonna has postponed her world tour after being hospitalised with a serious bacterial infection, according to reports. The 64-year-old singer was found unresponsive Page Six reported, and was rushed to the intensive care unit of a New York City earlier this week.

Madonna’s manager Guy Oseary took to Instagram on Wednesday to share the health update. He stated that the singer developed the infection on June 24, leading to a “several-day stay in the ICU”. He added that her health is improving but she is still under medical care. “A full recovery is expected,” Oseary wrote. He also announced that all commitments, including the tour, have been paused.

Madonna’s latest tour was scheduled to begin on July 15 in Vancouver, Canada and conclude on January 30 in Mexico City. The Celebration world tour was announced to celebrate the 40th anniversary of her breakout single ‘Holiday’. Announcing the tour in January, she told fans: "I am excited to explore as many songs as possible in hopes to give my fans the show they have been waiting for."

A source told Page Six that the singer had been “strenuously rehearsing” for the massive tour.
