Miscreants have defaced a Hindu temple in the United States with pro-Khalistan and anti-Modi slogans. Hindu association in the country have urged law authorities to take stringent action and investigate the matter as a ‘hate crime’.

Hindu American Association during the early hours of Saturday tweeted that the Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Newark was defaced with pro-Khalistani slogans. “Swaminarayan Mandir Vasana Sanstha in Newark, California was defaced with pro-#Khalistan slogans. @NewarkCA_Police and @CivilRights have been informed and full investigation will follow. We are insisting that this should be investigated as a hate crime.”

The graffiti also includes the mention of Khalistan militant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale’s name which the association accuse was done to terrorize ‘temple goers’. “The mention of the Khalistan terrorist kingpin #Bhindranwale, who targeted Hindus for murder, is specifically meant to traumatize temple goers and create a fear of violence—meeting the CA definition of a hate crime @NewarkCA_Police @CivilRights,” the association tweeted.

Incidents of such attacks against Indian consulates and temples abroad have been on the rise since Canada alleged India’s role in the murder of a pro-Khalistan leader. A Hindu temple was vandalised in Canada in August by pro-Khalistani supporters.
