Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Sanju is having a golden run at the box office. Sanju tells the journey of Sanjay Dutt—right from his long-haired young days of stardom, battle with drug addiction, imprisonment, and his relationships. With Sanju, Ranbir Kapoor essays one of his career best roles, and his uncanny resemblance to Dutt has been widely appreciated by critics and the audience.

Ranbir Kapoor has literally stepped into Sanjay Dutt’s shoes, perfectly emulating his persona, right from the physical looks, the hunch and body language. The effort that has gone into this remarkable transformation is noteworthy, and in a video shared by Fox Star Hindi on YouTube, the makers bring to the audience the journey of this transformation. The video takes us through the long hours of prosthetics and make-up, multiple look tests and hours of gruelling workout sessions that were needed to nail the look. Ranbir Kapoor, director Rajkumar Hirani and producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra speak about their experiences in the video.

Ranbir Kapoor said in the video that had they not been able to perfectly replicate Dutt’s look, he would not have done the project. Vidhu Vinod Chopra said: "For me, this film without Ranbir Kapoor wouldn’t have worked." Ranbir also said that one of the top key moments of his life was the day Sanjay Dutt walked into the sets of the film, and there he was face-to-face with the man he was playing.

Besides Ranbir Kapoor, the film stars Paresh Rawal, Dia Mirza, Vicky Kaushal and Sonam Kapoor.
